With the camping season just around the corner, theses amazing RV lifestyle tips for getting ready to hit the campground will help you prepare. As full-time RVers, we a lot of tips and tricks up our sleeves when it comes to getting the most out of your time at the campground. Spring can be a tricky time for campers because of the changing weather, but here’s how you can get the most out of your stay.
Pack in Layers
The weather is unpredictable during the springtime, so if you’re looking to stay comfortable during your vacation I highly recommend packing layers. This means bringing plenty of undershirts, long sleeves, a lightweight jacket, a hoodie, and plenty of thick socks to keep your toes warm. We also highly recommend packing a rain coat and rain boots.
Have a Designated Spot for Shoes and Jackets
If you have an RV with a pantry or a coat closet, you’ll have a built-in place to keep everyone’s muddy shoes and wet coats out of the way. However, if you don’t have a convenient place for these things, the shower is a pretty good option. It will make it so you have to rinse it out before you take your shower, but it will help reduce the dirt and mud everywhere else in the RV.
Book Ahead of Time
Campground start filling up quickly during the springtime, so if you’re looking for a place to visit during your spring break you’ll want to call now. In a lot of cases, you might need to book your vacations up to 6 weeks out, so be sure to have a few campgrounds in mind before you start calling to book your stay.
Plan Outdoor Activities
The spring is one of the best times to see abundant wildlife in various National Parks, so it’s an excellent time to plan a visit. Additionally, you’ll want to plan lots of outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, enjoying local site-seeing hot-spots and more.
Also Plan to Get Stuck Inside
I cannot stress enough how important it is to plan to have at least one day stuck in the RV if you’re camping during the spring. If your luck is anything like ours, we always end up getting rained out of at least one activity we’ve planned, so we try to keep plenty of board games, cards, and movies ready in case we have to stay in for a day.
Do a Thorough Clean Before Leaving Home
Whether you’ve been using your RV over the winter or its been stored, giving your space a deep clean before hitting the campground this spring is an excellent way to give yourself a fresh start. I highly recommend deep cleaning all of your appliances, flushing the tanks, and throwing all possible linens in the washer and dryer before you hit the road.
